Breaking through the darkness to usher in a new light
Seoul Light DDP 2026 Autumn, the world's largest media art festival staged on a free-form architectural facade, will light up the heart of Seoul for 11 days, from September 3 to 13, at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP).
Under the 2026 theme "DAYBREAKER," Seoul Light DDP celebrates innovation and bold experimentation—the forces that break through darkness and open the way to new light—across three festival editions: Autumn, Winter, and the New Year's Countdown.

“K-Original Light”
Opening the first chapter, Seoul Light DDP 2026 Autumn takes “K-Original Light” as its theme, shining a light on the creative origins that have shaped Korean culture today.
Every new era begins with perspectives that move beyond established conventions and bold experiments that challenge what came before. This edition brings together symbols of new beginnings in Korean culture: Nam June Paik, the pioneer of media art; Yoo Youngkuk, who opened new horizons in Korean abstract art; Cheongguyeongeon, a landmark Hangeul anthology rooted in Korea's cultural and intellectual tradition; and DDP 365 Light, which transforms DDP through light and laser. Together, they illuminate the idea of "beginning" itself.
Drawing on Nam June Paik's artistic philosophy, Seoul Light DDP 2026 Autumn unveils a new kind of stage for the first time in the festival's history, combining live performance with real-time responsive media art. The program also features media art that reinterprets Yoo Youngkuk's work and Hangeul through a contemporary lens, alongside performances that fuse light, sound, and laser—marking another beginning that will shape the future of Seoul Light DDP.
